Bills’ Greg Rousseau ready to rumble

Gregory Rousseau is ready to rumble in year two with the Buffalo Bills! The young defensive end chats with Playmaker’s Polo Kerber on his expectations this season, his thoughts on Von Miller, what teams he thinks will do well this year, and more!

Polo Kerber: Glad to chat with you! Let’s get it started: What are your personal expectations going into year two?

Gregory Rousseau: Likewise! I want to take everything game by game, you know, week by week and really help my team win in each and every way, whether it’s stopping the run or rushing the passer. I don’t like to put numbers on what I want to do, but I know deep down what I need to do for myself.

PK: You had some good games and you had a great interception off Mahomes, so I think you had a good rookie season. I’m excited for the game on Thursday. What’s the biggest difference with your Bills team going into this year, compared to last season?

GR: I’d say having the camp back at St. John Fisher this year for sure. It’s a whole different vibe. Being able to come back into Rochester, and bonding for those two-and-a-half, three weeks. Practices were really intense out there; it was crazy. It really was a great experience. So I feel like we have a really tough team because of it.

PK: So I’ve noticed on social media that you’re around Von Miller a lot, just from clips of practices and other things. So, what’s that like having someone as respected as him throughout the league in your defensive lineman room?

GR: It’s been great. Von is like an open book so far. He’s really helped me out with not only the stuff on the field, but the mentality he has and how he’s approached little things, like having a chef and how he takes care of his body. I’ve been taking notes, picking things up from every facet of life. Having a future Hall of Famer is a blessing and I can’t ask for a better mentor.

PK: And a Super Bowl champion! Having that experience in the locker room hopefully will help you guys get over the hump this year. Switching off of football, if you didn’t play football, ever, what would your life look like? What is something that you wanted to do outside of the football realm?

GR: Definitely something in communications and criminology! I was actually looking into the FBI a little bit. I would have liked to do some intelligence work so I can have the inside scoop on stuff that nobody knows about. I know that’s a weird reason, but I like knowing about everything. I’m not as interested in taking down bad guys, but just being behind the scenes would be dope to me.

PK: What’s your favorite thing to do in Buffalo?

GR: Definitely eating wings. I actually love to go to Niagara Falls and just hang out there, it’s pretty cool.

PK: American side or Canadian side?

GR: I’ve actually never been to the Canadian side yet! I heard it’s nice over there with all the different stuff to do.

PK: It’s a lot of fun and good for a date night if you want to have fun with your lady and not be bothered as much. Speaking of which, do you think you’re more recognized in Buffalo or on the University of Miami campus?

GR: If I’m on UM’s campus, I’ll definitely get recognized, but I’ll have to go with Buffalo. Bills Mafia is crazy man, they’re different.

PK: One more question before This or That. So, obviously we know you’ll say that the Bills are the best team in the AFC, but who’s the best NFC team to you? If you make the Super Bowl, who would you expect to see there?

GR: Um, I gotta say the Rams. They’re a complete team. I also like the Bucs, them boys nice. You can never count out Tom Brady. Another team would be the Packers. I know they lost some guys but they still have Rodgers and a solid team. And don’t sleep on the 49ers!

PK: I wanted the Bills to play the Buccaneers so bad last year, it would have been dope to see you guys beat Brady on a big stage. Hopefully that happens this year. So, now it’s time for This or That. Don’t think about it too hard; you can explain your answer if you want to but you don’t have to. So, wings or pizza?

GR: Wings.

PK: Blue cheese or ranch?

GR: Blue cheese definitely.

PK: Live in the city or suburbs?

GR: Suburbs.

PK: Island vacation or mountain retreat?

GR: Island.

PK: Hot or cold weather?

GR: Cold.

PK: Get fly, or dress down?

GR: Dress casual.

PK: Sack or interception?

GR: Sack.

PK: Playstation or Xbox?

GR: Playstation.

PK: Get put through a table or drenched in ketchup and mustard?

GR: (laughs) Put through a table!

PK: Red helmets or white helmets?

GR: I’m gonna go red! Those red ones were clean.

PK: Finally, what’s your favorite Bills jersey?

GR: Red on red!
