Ben Wallace Said Pistons Were Smart By Not Drafting Carmelo Anthony

In 2003, the Pistons were heavily criticized and ridiculed for drafting Darko Milicic over Carmelo Anthony.

The Pistons were blessed with the number 2 overall pick in 2003 after coming off a 50-win season. The only reason they had the #2 pick was because of a prior trade involving Otis Thorpe.

The Pistons decided to draft Milicic because they felt Ben Wallace was getting old and they wanted their next great big man ready to fill the role.

While most believed this to be Ludacris, Ben Wallace actually thought it was a logical choice.
