Atlanta Hawks Interested in Steven Adams

Reportedly, the Oklahoma City Thunder center is a possible trade target. He could be dealt before the trade deadline on February 6, 2020.

The Atlanta Hawks are currently tied with the Golden State Warriors for the worst record in the NBA at 6-24. Despite their record, they will be trying hard to get better. The team is reportedly interested in trading for Adams before the February deadline.

OKC is looking to move players with high salary, long term deals. Adams current contract ends in 2021, with a $27.5 million salary for the final season. The team is also $55.7 million over the cap for the 2020-2021 season.

Chris Kirschner of ‘The Athletic’ reported, “The Thunder’s Steven Adams is one of those players who could be dealt before the deadline and he is someone who has been discussed by the Hawks, according to a source inside the organization.”

Kirschner added, “Adams will make $27 million next season before becoming a free agent in 2021, which is the year Giannis Antetokounmpo could explore free agency, so acquiring Adams would not impact the Hawks during what could be a loaded free agency class.”
