“In state after state, governors and public health officials are deeming cannabis businesses ‘essential’ operations that can stay open amid coronavirus-related forced closures and stay-at-home mandates. “

Nevertheless, the demand for marijuana has likely has nothing to do with treating the virus, but purely for recreational use. There is no proof that cannabis is an effective way to treat COVID-19 at this time.

In most states, any “nonessential” businesses have been forced to temporarily close until further notice. This includes many restaurants, movie theaters, malls, department stores, gyms, etc.

However, marijuana businesses have received the green light to keep their doors open.
