Kenny McKinley was a promising young wide receiver for the Denver Broncos who committed suicide in the fall of 2010 after he endured a season ending injury.
At first, it was unclear why McKinley would take his own life. Eventually, it was discovered that McKinley owed a former teammate $65,000 he borrowed to pay off multiple gambling debts including a $40,000 debt owed to a Las Vegas casino.
The overwhelming financial pressure contributed to McKinley’s deadly depression.
